Fox 13 News ran a story Saturday evening about The Card Table. Many thanks to them for taking the time to speak with us and share our work with Utah.

Not the first– surely not the last– to ask: plans for Android? I've got an iPad but no more iPhone. The Market demands it! Keep up the good work, gents.

We would like to port it to Android, but we have some technology hurdles to deal with before that is feasible. We are using Apple's built-in-to-iOS multipeer connectivity framework to connect devices and communicate between them. To make it platform neutral will take quite a bit of engineering. We're becoming more and more hopeful that this becomes more than a hobbyist venture and we can eventually afford to make the jump to Android.

I know the app works with Bluetooth only, but if it worked with IP it would allow people to play any card game across the internet. Logging into a VPN and then having the app work with IP would be very cool and probably not too hard to code.

Thanks for checking us out, David. With The Card Table we are deliberately trying to create a multiplayer experience with the people right around you, so we use peer-to-peer connections to accomplish that. You can connect with people near you over Bluetooth or by connecting to the same Wifi network.
